TE Connectivity’s MEAS SP1 series of string potentiometers offer a compact solution. The small size enables them to be fitted into small spaces, and the mounting bracket permits the user to position the string pot at any angle. These string potentiometers are constructed with a rugged polycarbonate enclosure and provide a linear measurement range of up to 50”/1270mm.

String pots make it extremely easy to measure the position of objects and their position. They can be installed very quickly and with because of their small size, it's easy enough to mount them in small spaces. Not to mention, they do not require you to have a spot on parallel alignment.
