This 3M copper tape can be relied on to make a strong and consistent electrical contact through its adhesive. It has an embossed profile that means the copper delivers good contact while maintaining reliable adhesion at a strength of 3.8N/cm. An operating temperature range of -40°C to +130°C makes this product suitable for use in a wide range of harsh industrial environments.

The most common application for copper tape is to provide electromagnetic shielding. You'll also find it used in crafting or to protect potted plants from slugs and snails, which are said to shy away from crossing a copper barrier.

Electromagnetic shielding, also known as a Faraday shield, is used in a variety of applications to protect components from external electromagnetic interference. Examples include microwave ovens, coaxial cables and magnetic imaging resonance (MRI) scan rooms.

The 1245 type embossed copper shielding tape has a 1.4 -mil embossed copper foil backing with an acrylic pressure sensitive adhesive and liner. The embossing helps make an excellent contact through the adhesive. As the copper is unplaited they are ideally suited to non-corrosive conditions.
