RS PRO Hermetically Sealed Enclosure with Clear Lid for Wall Mounting, IP68, IK07

Introducing mountable hermetically sealed general purpose enclosures from our own brand RS PRO, a range of enclosures ideal for housing and protecting internal electrical parts and components. The base of this general purpose protective enclosure is manufactured from ABS plastic, with a lid manufactured from PC (Polycarbonate), offering excellent durability, electrical insulation and shock absorbance.

This two part durable enclosure offers an IP68 rating ensuring protection from water and dust ingress, whilst IK07 protection provides enhanced shock absorbent properties. The lid can be securely attached to the base via thread brass inserts, ensuring easy and reliable assembly. The transparent lid also allows you to view internal components without having to open the enclosure, making it ideal for troubleshooting. This compact yet versatile enclosure also features mounting tabs, allowing you to install the enclosure to a wall or other surface.

What is an IP rating?

IP (Ingress Protection) levels refer to the level of protection materials such as an electrical enclosure has against solids such as dust, debris and liquids. The first digit identifies the level of protection from a physical intrusion whereas the second digit identifies the level of protection from water and other liquids. A lower IP rating (such as IP54 offers protection from limited dust ingress whereas a high IP rating such as IP78 can offer complete dust proof protection plus a continuous level of protection underwater.

This enclosure features an IP68 rating, offering protection from dust ingress and water.

If I modify the enclosure will the IP rating remain the same?

Any modifications made to the enclosure will subsequently reduce the IP protective level.

Can this enclosure be used outdoors?

Although this enclosure offers protection from water, it is not recommended for use outdoors.
