Introducing polycarbonate & ABS hermetically sealed general purpose enclosures from our own brand RS PRO, a range of enclosures ideal for housing and protecting internal electrical parts and components. The base is manufactured using ABS and the lid of this general purpose protective enclosure is manufactured from PC (Polycarbonate) offering excellent electrical insulation, corrosion resistance and abrasion resistance.

This two part durable enclosure offers an IP68 rating ensuring protection from water and dust ingress. This general purpose enclosure also features an IK07 rating, further enhancing shock absorbance. The transparent lid Is ideal for troubleshooting and providing visibility of internal components and can be securely attached to the base via thread brass inserts, ensuring easy and reliable assembly.

What is an IP rating?


IP (Ingress Protection) levels refer to the level of protection materials such as an electrical enclosure has against solids such as dust, debris and liquids. The first digit identifies the level of protection from a physical intrusion whereas the second digit identifies the level of protection from water and other liquids. A lower IP rating (such as IP54 offers protection from limited dust ingress whereas a high IP rating such as IP78 can offer complete dust proof protection plus a continuous level of protection underwater.

This enclosure offers an IP68 rating, offering protection from dust ingress and water.

If I modify the enclosure will the IP rating remain the same?


Any modifications made to the enclosure will subsequently reduce the IP protective level.

Can this enclosure be used outdoors?


This enclosure offers protection against water and dust ingress, however it is not recommended for use outside with a heavy presence of water.
