Metcal PTC Tweezer Solder Tips / Soldering Tips / Tweezer Tip Cartridges.


PTC-tweezer-tip cartridges are the standard tweezer-tip range for the Metcal CV-5200, CV-500, MX-500, MX-5000 and MX-5200 series soldering systems.

All cartridges are available in 3 temperature ranges.

  • 700-series nominally 390 ˚C.

  • 800-series nominally 430 ˚C.

  • 900-series nominally 470 ˚C.

    • The temperature/series is designated by the by the first digit in the numerical part of the part number:

  • 700-series will be PTC-7xx.

  • 800-series will be PTC-8xx.

  • 900-series will be PTC-9xx.


  • Metcal recommends the 700-series for many general applications.

    800/900-series for high temperature and thermally demanding applications.

    Can be used with leaded and lead-free solder. The Metcal “SmartHeat®-Technology“ will adjust delivered power during soldering to suit the application.

  • 700 = FR4/Fibre Glass, for most standard applications.

    • PTC series will remove chips and SOIC-components.
