The reed switch is high-vacuum and hermetically sealed, so it's protected from corrosion and contamination. This, along with its electromagnetic operation, contributes to the unit's long life expectancy of one million cycles. Tungsten contacts allow for a high maximum switching voltage of 7000V (AC and DC).
