How does an ultrasonic level transducer work?


A transducer like this works similarly to radar but with sound waves instead of radio. It pings an ultrasonic pulse beyond human hearing at the surface of the liquid or solid it's measuring. The level calculates the distance to the surface by the length of time it takes for the wave to bounce back.
