Arduino, AT91SAM3X8E Processor - A000062

This development board is intended for embedded applications requiring a 32-bit microcontroller platform. It hosts a 32-bit ARM-based processor suited to Advanced prototyping and control tasks, offering a development environment for engineers and experienced makers working on performance-oriented projects.

Features and Benefits:

• 32-bit processor delivers higher computational throughput
• ARM-based architecture enables real-time control performance
• Development board format supports Rapid prototyping workflows

Applications

• Suitable for performance-focused embedded system development
• Ideal for projects requiring 32-bit microcontroller capability
• Used with compatible shields for hardware expansion

What type of processor architecture does it use?

It uses a 32-bit ARM Cortex-style architecture implemented in the specified processor.

Who is the intended user for this board?

Practitioners and developers seeking a development board with a 32-bit microcontroller for Advanced prototyping.

Does it work with the Arduino Shields?

Yes, the Due board works with all available Arduino Shields that run at 3.3V and are compliant with the 1.0 Arduino pinout:

- TWI: SDA and SCL pins that are near to the AREF pin.

- IOREF: allows an attached shield with the proper configuration to adapt to the voltage provided by the board. This enables shield compatibility with a 3.3V board like the Due and AVR-based boards which operate at 5V.

- An unconnected pin, reserved for future use.

Arduino ARM Development Boards

We have a range of Arduino boards at RS that feature a 32-bit ARM microcontroller at the core. The Due with a SAM3X8E ARM Cortex-M3 and the M0/M0 Pro with a SAMD21G18 ARM Cortex-M0.

Warning

the Arduino Due board runs at 3.3V (which is different to most other Arduino boards). Applying voltages higher than 3.3V to any I/O pin may cause damage.
