What does motor protection do?
Motor protection units protect against various types of damage that can occur within a motor, such as problems arising from vibration or excess torque. Motor protection units also take care of other mechanical limitations like startup frequency management, and control operating characteristics like voltage, phases and short-circuit current availability.
What is motor protection used for?
Motor protection is mainly used to manage and protect synchronous and asynchronous motors. They can also be used for circuit breakers (devices used for stopping the electric current as a safety measure) and motors in a variety of drive applications, such as motor drives for pumps, fans, compressors, mills and crushers.
