    Gate Drivers

Gate driver integrated circuits (ICs) are power amplifiers which convert low-power inputs into high-current drives. They are designed for use with high-power transistor devices, such as MOSFETs or IGBTs. Gate drivers sit between an output signal from a DAC (Digital to Analogue Converter) and a power switch (IGBT or MOSFET).

It is important to consider the number of driver outputs for your chosen application. The operating voltage and output current parameters are also important factors to consider when choosing a gate driver. Gate driver ICs come in a standard semiconductor package, such as MSOP, PDIP, QFN and SOIC. Gate drivers may also come as a complete module.

    What are MOSFET drivers?

A MOSFET driver is a power amplifier that provides the high and low output voltage to switch a MOSFET on or off. MOSFETs and IGBT transistors are voltage controlled-devices that are used as a switching device within an electronic circuit. MOSFET drivers are ideal for driving power MOSFETS in converter and inverter applications.

    Bridge type drivers

Half Bridge Drivers: designed for applications that require high power uni-directional DC motors, three-phase brushless DC motors, or other inductive loads.

Full Bridge Drivers: a full-bridge controller for use with external N-channel power mosfets and is designed for automotive applications with high-power inductive loads.

3 Phase Drivers: designed for pulse width modulated (PWM) current control of 3-phase, brushless DC motors.

    Piezoelectric drivers

Piezoelectricity is the electricity that comes from pressure and latent heat. Piezoelectric drivers (or Piezo drivers) are gate drivers designed to support piezo components. This includes optical fibre, inkjet printers, microphones, speakers and XY stages for micro scanning used in infrared cameras.
