Pedestals & Plinths

A plinth is a heavy base or platform which supports a structure, column, pedestal, monument or cabinet. The plinth was originally designed as a weight bearing base, which usually rests on the ground. It acts as a support between the ground and the structure.
There are a number of different types of plinths depending upon your need for one whether it be architectural or engineering.
Plinth bases install under an enclosure and are designed to provide space for bottom entry cables into the access panel. They provide simple cable access for installation and ongoing cable maintenance.
They come in a range of materials, sizes and colours depending on your requirements.
Some plinth bases have adjustable feet and removable covers to allow entry from all sides.
Some are fixed and others are mobile, with a load carrying capacity limit.

Pedestals are designed to support structural steel works. They are mainly made from concrete or steel.
They can support loads efficiently from the column to the footings which are often located below the ground surface. They are a way of avoiding direct contact with the moisture in the soil which could cause possible corrosion of the metal or wood elements.
